FUT Hair Transplant

In FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) technique, small strip of follicular units are extracted from nape in needed amounts, and it is disintegrated into small pieces including several follicles on it, which is called grafts. Later, those grafts are transplanted one by one into canals which are planned in accordance with hair direction and opened by micro blades called slits. The advantage of this technique is that there is no need for shaving hair. Besides that, since collecting grafts and transplanting them are practiced at the same time, it is a rapid method. Compared to FUE technique although it has advantages like being fast and cheap, it is performed by only a few number of clinics due to the fact that it requires stiches for incisions, it leaves scars, after transplantation it sometimes results in paresthesia on the nape, it can’t be applied for body hair, and it is not thin enough to be used for hair, beard, eyelashes and brows. However, some centers perform FUT and FUE techniques together described as combo method. Yet, in our clinic instead of making fut hair transplant incision extending between both ears we prefer having a mega session or two sessions operation. We only use FUE technique in our clinic.

For suitable patients, 3500-4000 grafts can be extracted in one session. 1/3 of those grafts will be with single follicle, 1/3 of them will be with double follicles, and the remaining 1/3 will be with 3 or 4 follicles. Deriving from those numbers, we can say that about 7000-10000 follicle transplant will be done in one session.
