After Hair Transplant Operation
What to Pay Attention
After the operation, red scabs can be seen on the transplant area due to blood coagulation. But this crusting can be prevented. For this reason, it is recommended to wash the hair once in every day for a week following the transplant. The scabs completely disappear within 7-10 days and the hair transplant area heals. After about 1 month, the transplanted hair begins to fall out. But, hair strands fall out, not the hair follicles. Shedding of hair strands is very normal at this stage. The important thing is the hair follicles which will grow new hair strands. There will be no change in this appearance for 3 months after the operation. However, new and healthy strands begin to grow at the end of three months. Visible changes in the person who had hair transplant can be noticed starting from the 6th month. After that, the hair continues to grow with 10% increase on average each month, and the patient has completely new hair at the end of one year.
What to Pay Attention After the Operation?
In order to ensure that new hair roots adapt smoothly, people who have hair transplantation should definitely avoid contact with water and the use of cosmetic products for 2 days after the operation. On the 3rd day after the hair transplantation, first hair washing is done at the clinic where the transplantation is performed and it is shown practically how to wash in the following days. Thin blood leaks occur from the holes opened in the hair transplant area, and they coagulate and appear as scabs on the scalp. Breaking these scabs or playing with them can cause damage to the newly planted roots and moreover prevent new hair growth. Do not ever interfere with the scabs. In this case, contact the hair transplant specialist. In the first days after the operation, it is recommended to apply ice compresses around the forehead and eye area as much as possible. Thus, post-operative swelling can be prevented. Those who have hair transplantation are recommended to avoid going to pool, sea, solarium and sauna and doing heavy sports for 1 month. Those who have transplantation in the summer months can use a hat to protect from sunlight and heat. Patients are recommended to lie on their back for one week after the transplantation. Antibiotics and pain relievers recommended by the doctor are used for 5 days following the operation.
