Who Is Dr. Okan Morkoç?

Dr. Okan Morkoç is one of Turkey’s most well-respected surgeons who specialize in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, including hair transplants. He has helped thousands of international patients regrow their natural hair, restore their youthful looks, and supercharge their confidence and self-esteem.

To reach his goal of becoming an expert in the field of hair transplantation, he acquired a wealth of knowledge and skills that would later turn him into one of the most sought-after surgeons in Turkey.

Education – Paving the road to success

It all started back in 1992 when Dr. Okan Morkoç started attending Kabatas Lycee for Boys, a prestigious high school in Istanbul, Turkey. He always felt that medicine was his calling, but it was in those high-school days that he knew he had to pursue it.

Four years later, he applied for the School of Medicine at Akdeniz University in Antalya, Turkey, and started his outstanding medical journey.

After graduating with flying colors, he returned to Istanbul to start his residency. He became a resident at Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, where he trained from 2003-2010.

Building a future

With years of experience and a wealth of knowledge on hand, Dr. Okan Morkoç took up his first position as a surgeon.

It was right after he finished his residency, and it marked his first big step toward building his bright future.

He started working as a Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeon at Sivas Numune Hospital in Sivas, Turkey. He held that position for roughly a year.

From 2011-2013, he held the same position at Severgazi State Hospital in Denizli, Turkey.

Becoming a member of leading authorities on hair restoration

While still in his residency, Dr. Okan Morkoç recognized the importance of making an even larger impact in people’s lives by joining relevant non-profit medical associations.

In 2005, he became a member of the Wound Management Association Turkey (WMAT), which provides wound care training for physicians and nurses and organizes regular national and international conferences to share knowledge and experience.

In 2012, he joined the Turkish Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (TSAPS), an association that addresses various topics on surgery training, patient safety, ethical standards, and more.

That same year, he also became a member of the Rhinoplasty Society of Europe, an organization dedicated to rhinoplasty innovations.

In 2014, he became an associate member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), one of the world’s leading non-profit medical associations on hair loss treatments and restoration.
